We met Isaac on the way home from our hometown today.

I wish I had my fancy camera and that we weren’t driving down the road, but I did catch some interesting shots on my less-than-stellar Droid camera phone.

This cloud formation made for some nervous conversation in the vehicle. The color of the sky varied from dark to lighter with the big, billowy cloud in the center. The clouds made their artwork before we ever even drove into the rain.

The wind had started to pick up and we could see the shelf of misty rain as we headed for it, but I wanted to catch some shots and upload them to Facebook. I can only imagine what my friends were seeing on the Gulf Coast as this storm ran through full force. We definitely needed rain–the drought here has been ridiculous. And, luckily, it seemed the rain came in spits and spurts, so I’m hopeful that some sunk into the ground.

I also took the photos so I could show them to the girls. They are visiting their grandma this weekend, so there is a good possibility that the clouds they saw weren’t the same types we were seeing.

They can sometimes become jazzed about neat things like clouds or rainstorms or any number of other things you wouldn’t imagine kids being jazzed about as a rule.

We didn’t have any outside plans for today or this evening, so that worked out well. A county near our hometown county is having its fair this week. My husband used to never miss the Monday festivities, but he hasn’t gone for a couple years. This year, I’m betting the weather could make the festivities either swampy or questionable. He likes watching the harness racing, but I’m not sure what the condition of the track would be and whether the horses would run. I’m looking forward to having one last quiet day before the onslaught of fall begins. No more days off until Thanksgiving for me, I don’t think.
